Remember when banks used to attract customers with free items, ie. small appliances, dishes and knife sets? That's when they understood the importance of customer service and that they are actually using our money for their profits.
When signing papers at a new doctor's office, beware that you may be charged a fee for having your records transferred. Futher beware if the service they use is Discovery Support Services. This company will send you an invoice, and if not paid, they will send you directly to a collection agency without any further statements, calls or warnings. Their invoice states that the records will be sent when you send the money. Unfortunately, I incorrectly assumed that if I didn't pay, they would not send the records - no problem. WRONG!
This happened several months ago. I never received another bill, call or collection warning. Now my account has been sent to a collection agency, for $21.00 and my excellent credit in jeoparday!
The company refused to discuss the claim and said it was out of their hands. My argument is, if they didn't transfer the records, they do not deserve the money, let alone send to a collection agency.
